Creative Ireland

The Creative Ireland Programme is guided by a vision that every person in Ireland will have the opportunity to realise their full creative potential.  It is a five year all-of-Government initiative, from 2017 to 2022, to place creativity at the centre of public policy.

Creative Ireland Open Call Information Meetings in Ballymote, Tubbercurry and Sligo.

The Creative Ireland Open Call is a countywide open call to community groups, organisations, venues, artists, writers, performers, archaeologists, archivists and everyone involved in the culture and creative sectors to develop high quality projects and programmes that enable groups and individuals to realise their creative potential and develop and encourage greater access, knowledge and appreciation of the arts, culture and creativity.

Applications must be developed by a community group, venue or organisation in partnership with individuals with professional expertise in any creative or cultural arena such as visual or performing arts, literature, heritage or other culture area.  A group may approach the professional practitioner with a view to developing a project or visa-versa.

Groups with little or no previous involvement in creative projects are particularly welcome, and in order to help all applicants, a series of three public meetings are being held to provide advice and assistance to help ensure projects being planned can achieve the best possible experience for everyone involved.  Whether you are a member of a community or youth group interested in developing a project, or an artist, performer or archaeologist who would like to work with a group, these meetings will be of interest to you.

The meetings are scheduled as follows:

  • Ballymote Community Library, Monday 28th May 2-4pm
  • Tubbercurry Community Library, Monday 28th May 5-7pm
  • Sligo Central Library, Tuesday 29th May 6-8pm

About Creative Ireland:

The Creative Ireland Programme is a five year all-of-Government initiative to place creativity at the centre of public policy.  It is guided by a vision that every person in Ireland will have the opportunity to realise their full creative potential.  Creative Ireland defines creativity as a set of innate abilities and learned skills: the capacity of individuals and organisations to transcend accepted ideas and norms and by drawing on imagination to create new ideas that bring additional value to human activity.  Continuous engagement with the arts and culture is enormously beneficial for building creative capacities and enhancing wellbeing and culture and creativity essential features of an innovative society where the ability to conceptualise is more important than knowledge.  An important aspect to the Creative Ireland programme is the collaborative nature of the programme between national and local government and as part of the programme each local authority has prepared a Culture and Creativity strategy to support this work.
