The Word - Monthly Author Reading

We just got Word... and we are very excited!! Declan Burke and Eileen P. Keane will be joining us for The Word this month, Wednesday May 30th 6.30pm. Two fantastic readers as well as writers.

Declan Burke is an award-winning writer of crime fiction, including, noted books such as Eightball Boogie and Slaughters Hound, which has been described as “Among the most memorable books of the year, of any genre.” – Sunday Times and “A hardboiled delight.” – Guardian.  He has been compared as “A cross between Raymond Chandler and Flann O’Brien.” – John Banville and “shows again that he’s not just a comic genius, but also a fine dramatic writer and storyteller.” – Booklist.

Both writers will be sharing excerpts of their work and chatting with the audience afterwards with an inspiring and informative Q&A session.

We then move on to our Open Mic – and as the title suggests, this can be any kind of word, prose, poetry, non-fiction or music.  There are a LIMITED number of spaces for this and they will fill up fast on the night.

The Word is a collaboration between Sligo Central Library and the staff and students of the new BA (Hons) in Writing and Literature IT Sligo.

Free admission, tea, coffee and chats guaranteed. Looking forward to seeing you there.`The Word' is a monthly event, taking place on the last Wednesday of each month at 6.30pm in Sligo Central Library.
