LGBTQIA+ Collection

Sligo Libraries are excited to create a new, community-led, LGBTQIA+ collection for the whole community, with the help of a grant secured from the Department of Children, Equality, Disability Integration and Youth. We want our collection to be made up of what people in the community want, (LGBTQIA+ Books, DVDs, Zines, Self-Published etc., fact or fiction, educational or entertainment). Please let us know what you think should be there for you, or for your friends and family, with our simple form, (see below). It could be something that really helped you, or one you would like to be able to borrow rather than buy. Representation and information are so important to help us understand ourselves and each other. By improving access to these we hope that this new collection will also help to promote inclusion.

Use our quick Google form to send Lou at Sligo Libraries your suggestions (or copy and paste: https://forms.gle/n2NHaX4ssG3UDiZH6). Their email is on the form if you have any questions!

Our monthly literary event The Word, online Wednesday 24th February, will launch the collection with LGBTQIA+ activist and community icon Ailbhe Smyth and Ireland’s Premiere Non-Binary Drag Entity, Avoca Reaction.
