Joe McGowan is a native of Mullaghmore, County Sligo. For many years he has been dedicated to preserving, visually and orally, Ireland’s disappearing traditions and customs. He is the author of several books, including classics such as, ‘Echoes of a Savage Land’, ‘A Bitter Wind’, ‘Inishmurray, Gale, Stone and Fire’ and most recently ‘Even the Heather Bled’.
