Sligo County Museum, Stephen Street, Sligo will close from 4.45pm on Saturday 6th September 2025, in order to facilitate urgent repair work to be carried out on the façade of the Museum building.

Museum staff have already commenced work on the removal of Museum artefacts to safe storage. Building work is due to commence on the 15th September and this may take approximately 3 to 4 months, after which the process of restocking and restoration of the Museum exhibits, will require a further 2 months work.

The scheduled date for reopening of the Sligo County Museum is 9.30am on Tuesday 3rd March 2026.

Sligo County Council apologises for any inconvenience caused by this temporary closure and we look forward to reopening in March 2026.
