Sligo Library Service is delighted to announce that the MOL (My Open Library) Service has been relaunched. The official opening took place in Tubbercurry Community Library, Humbert Street, Tubbercurry, Co. Sligo on Wednesday 19th April 2023. Cllr Martin Baker did the honours with Mr Martin Leydon, CEO Sligo County Council and Mr Donal Tinney, County Librarian in attendance.
Tubbercurry Community Library was the first library in the country to provide MOL services in 2014 and has now upgraded all its hardware to continue these extended facilities into the foreseeable future.
What is MOL (My Open Library)
Automated access to the branch for library members via membership card and pin code during unstaffed hours.
Provision of self-service activities including, but not limited to:
issue and return of books and other library stock,
internet access on PCs,
use of wi-fi,
printing and photocopying,
study/reading spaces, and meeting facilities.
The My Open Library service extends the availability of library services to customers at times that suit them best, providing greater flexibility and convenience through increased opening hours in addition to the invaluable staffed hours.
“It has facilitated increased access for students to study from early in the morning to late at night; families with working parents; commuters; people up-skilling; and community groups to use the meeting room facilities” (Mr Micheal Ring TD, 2019)
If you would like to avail of these additional services, please contact any library staff member in Tubbercurry, either in person, ph. 071 9111705 or email sligolib@sligococo.ie
