Summer Stars Reading Challenge 2025

Hello and welcome to Sligo Library Summer Stars Reading Challenge 2025

Summer is here! And that means that libraries around the country are once again celebrating reading with our Summer Stars Reading Challenge for children.

Running from June 3rd until mid-August, Summer Stars is an opportunity for children to enjoy reading during their summer holiday with FREE events, rewards, and incentives along the way.

The Reading Challenge is for all children, with no restrictions on how many books must be read.

SUMMER STARS 2025 COMPETITIONS

Bookmark Competition

Design your very own bookmark! Colour or draw your design inside the rectangle on the competition sheet and turn your finished artwork in to your local library.

1st Prize for each library branch: Art Set.

Overall winner for the entire county: Bookmark printed and distributed throughout the county!

Write a funny bookish story or tell us a joke about books!

Design Your Dream Bookshelf Competition

Design your dream bookshelf! This can be made up of your favourite books, or books you would like to read. Fill in the titles on the book spines on the competition sheet. Feel free to illustrate the spines as well!
