Educational opportunities with MSLETB for those up-skilling, returning to work or unemployed.
Josephine McGread of the The Mayo, Sligo, Leitrim Education and Training Board outlines the educational opportunities that are available for those who are currently unemployed; those who want to upskill or those who want to return to the workforce after a period of other duties.
Josephine, a qualified Guidance Counsellor, is the Co-ordinator of the MSLETB Adult Guidance service. In the interview she goes through the educational services that the MSLEBT provides. While there are many challenges facing those who are trying to rejoin the workforce the MSLEBT seeks to provide a range of courses that give the skills that are required in today’s workplace.
The MSLETB Adult Guidance service seeks to find out what you want to do and how to provide you with the educational supports to make that possible. Whether it is a part-time course or full time there is a huge range of courses available.
If you are unemployed, parenting alone or have a disability and are getting certain payments from the Department of Social Protection (DSP), you may take part in a second-or third-level education course and get a Back to Education Allowance (BTEA).
