FREE My Little Library Book Bags are now available for children starting primary school in 2026!
To help children prepare for starting school, libraries are offering free book bags filled with specially chosen books and helpful resources.
Available from Friday, 8th May 2026 at Sligo County Libraries and libraries nationwide.
Each bag includes:
- Two books
- A library card for children who don’t already have one
- A My Little Library cardholder
- Helpful tips and resources for parents
Bags are available in both Irish and English.
Part of the First 5 Strategy, this initiative is a collaboration between public libraries, the Department of Rural and Community Development, and the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth.
We can’t wait to welcome all children starting primary school and their families to the library to collect their book bags and begin their library membership journey!
