Markievicz Exhibition

A Local Studies Collection involves both the concept of living history and responsibilities to future historians thus it will always continue to grow. Our aim is to collect, organise and make available materials relating to Sligo and its people. Over the past fifty years Sligo Library has attempted to carry out the task of accumulating these items. Through connections with specialist antiquarian dealers, local booksellers and the generosity of Sligo people the collection continues to grow and is currently in excess of 10, 000 items.

Please note: Due to scheduling of staff for work on Saturdays requests  for  print/paper format  items in the Local Studies Collection must be made before 12.00 noon on Fridays for use the following Tuesday. This does not affect the ongoing delivery time of 24 working hours notice for items to be delivered to the Local Studies Reading Room from our Store. All microfilm based records are stored in the Local Studies Reading Room in Stephen Street and are available during opening hours of the Local Studies Reading Room.

If there is a particular item you are looking for and cannot find please contact [email protected] or 071 9111675.
