It’s Time to Read for children from St John’s NS, Sligo in Sligo Central Library

Children from second class in St John’s NS today visited the Sligo Central Library as part of the Time to Read programme taking place in the school this year.

The Time to Read programme, run by Business in the Community Ireland partners local employees from Sligo County Council who volunteer to help the children with their reading by increasing their enjoyment of books and improving their fluency and comprehension when reading.

“The library visit introduces the children to the local library. The idea is for them all to have fun in a library and see that they are not intimidating, quiet places but somewhere for them to come and enjoy themselves and take out books. The library had organised storyteller, Wayne O’Connor today and the children had a brilliant time hearing stories and helping to create a new story too.” said Time to Read co-ordinator, Fania Ellison.

The Time to Read programme is run by The Schools’ Business Partnership under Business in the Community Ireland.
